The region of the Lot is full of beautiful landscapes, dramatic gorges and slow moving rivers. It also boasts some of the most beautiful and iconic villages in France such as St Cirq Lapopie, Puy-l’Eveque and Rocamadour.
Nearby there are also a number of outstanding Chateaux including Assier, Cabrerets and many charming hamlets lining the River Lot to explore.
Le Vieux Couvent is situated within the protected boundaries of ‘Causses du Quercy’ Regional Natural Park. Set between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers the park is cut by deep valleys, with amazing views and dramatic scenery it extends over an area of 8000 km². The Park is also home to varied wildlife including Herons, 21 species of bat and the land is also used for traditional livestock farming. Look out for the stone built shepherds shelters, known as cazelles, as well as the dolmens and menhirs which date back to between 2000 and 5000 BC!
