Painting Holiday with Robert O’Brien
Robert J. O’Brien is a full time award winning artist and popular local, national and international workshop instructor. He is a signature member of the American, National and New England Watercolor Societies, among others. He recently received the Winsor and Newton: Col-Art America’s Inc. Award at the New England Watercolor Society’s 16th Biennial North American Open Show in Duxbury, MA, the Garnet Award for his painting “Boston Coach” at the 37th Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors in Old Forge, NY, the Mary Bryan Memorial Award at the 68th Academic Artists National Exhibition in Vernon, CT and the Joseph Santoro Memorial Award at the New England Watercolor Society’s 2018 Juried Signature Members Show in Boston. In 2017 he won the Combined Donors Award 1 at the 97th International Exhibition of the National Watercolor Society in San Pedro CA. He was accepted into the 147th, 148th, 149th, 150th, 151st and in 2019, the 152nd International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society, held at the Salmagundi Club in New York, NY.
Robert was a co-Juror of Awards for the 151st International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society in 2018. In 2017 he was the co-Juror of Selection and Awards for the 67th Academic Artists Exhibition in Vernon CT and in 2016, the Awards Juror for the 40th North East Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition. He was recently featured in the 29th issue of the Art of Watercolour magazine and was featured in the February 2015 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine, the Dec. 2011/ Feb. 2012 issue of the French watercolor magazine, l’Art de l’Aquarelle, and Splash 15, The Best of Watercolor. Robert serves as the Scholarship Chair for the American Watercolor Society. He lives and paints in Weathersfield, Vermont and teaches workshops throughout the United States, and abroad.
